Sealed is a messaging app that sends time-delayed photos, videos, and gifts. Recipients immediately receive the locked message and know WHO sent the message as well as WHEN it will unlock. All they can do then is wait.
How should I use Sealed?
How you use Sealed is up to you. We think it's great for sending messages timed to unlock on birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, etc. However, we also fundamentally believe in being proactive & thoughtful people and friends. We created this tool in order to give people a way to send their friends and family messages that they will have no choice but to look forward to.
Do I need to download the app in order to receive messages on Sealed?
Yes. You can send a message to anyone by entering their email address or adding them in the 'add friends' tab within the app, and the receipient will get an email saying that they've received a message from (your name), with a link that will allow them to download Sealed.
Does my message disappear after it is opened?
The sender chooses whether s/he wants their message to disappear after being opened. By default, messages on Sealed do not disappear, but in 'Final Settings' before tapping 'Send', you have the option to make messages disappear after being viewed. Disappearing messages show up in your inbox as a grey dashed box.
What are you doing with my data?
How does Sealed make money?
Sealed will always be a free service. However, in the near future, we will allow users to send time-delayed gift cards and will charge a small fee to do so. We also have lots of ideas for cool features down the road, so there someday may be a 'pro' version of Sealed.
What happens if I change my email address?
Shoot us an email at info (at) trysealed (dot) com and we'll get your account ported over.
What happens if technology changes and we’re no longer using computers or phones by the time my message is set to unlock?
Very good question. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
However, if Sealed ever appears to be approaching the end of its life, we will make sure to send each user a link to download all of their messages, even if they aren't set to unlock for a hundred years. Not something we like to think about, but it's important to consider given the nature of the app.
What if I want to take a message back. Is there an undo button?
Not yet, as of May 2015. At some point we will incorporate a way to rescind messages, but there will be a catch. We can't have people taking back messages willy nilly, that just ruins everything.
